I’m mute for now. Laryngitis.

My voice seemed to be improving until my overconfidence made the mistake of talking.

Yep, that killed my voice.

So while reading this, picture the hoarseness of an English woman rasping out her words and there, you’ve found my voice, even if I’ve lost it.

The funny thing about laryngitis is that it makes you realise how much you talk. Hell, sometimes I like to hum to myself. And if I try to laugh, I sound like a duck trying to cough.

I’m probably going to be seeing the doctor tomorrow. This sickness has lasted too long and seems to be spreading.

The only problem is…

Communication.

How do I tell the doctor what is wrong when I can’t speak?

First plan was: stick a sticky-note reading “Out of Order” to my throat. Maybe add a no entry symbol too. Thumbs down is another option.

Current plan is: point to throat, cover my mouth with my hands, mime crying.

Yeah, I think I’ll go with pen and paper.

But the miming sounds funny. I wonder if the doctor would say, “Hey, can someone send the laryngitis mime interpreter?”

I’m getting pretty tired so I’m gonna go. But I have just one request.

If you do see my voice, can you tell it to come find me? I miss it.

  2. Naomi, even mute due to laryngitis, your voice is powerful. I’m sending healing thoughts and wishes for a good outcome when you see your doctor. And yes, if I see your voice, I will most definitely instruct it to head on back to you!
